"The file is corrupted and cannot be opened." This error usually pops up exactly when you need that file the most. It happens due to power cuts during saving, bad sectors on the disk, or virus infections.
At Banwow, we don't just recover deleted files; we fix broken ones.
Files We Repair
- Microsoft Office: Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx). We extract text even if the file structure is damaged.
- Photos: JPG/JPEG images that show half-grey bars or don't open.
- Videos: MP4/MOV files that play choppy or have no sound.
- Databases: SQL, Tally data files.
Is it Ransomware?
Check the file extension. If your "Document.docx" is now "Document.docx.lock" or something weird, that is NOT corruption—that is Ransomware encryption. That requires a completely different approach.
How Corruption Happens
Files have a "Header" (tells the PC what file it is) and a "Footer" (tells it where it ends). If the computer shuts down while writing these, the file is left incomplete. We manually edit the Hex code to stitch the headers back together.
The Video Repair Specialist
We specialized in fixing drone (DJI) and GoPro footage that was corrupted because the battery died while recording. We use a healthy sample file from the same camera to rebuild the broken index of the corrupted video.
